Role Title: Accountant

Department: Finance Operations

Location: Dubai, UAE

Reports to: Finance Manager / Head of Finance Operations / CFO

Position Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for managing key financial processes, including month-end closing, accounts receivable, inventory reconciliation, invoice verification, and P&L management. This role ensures compliance with IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 37, and IAS 38. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other departments to maintain accurate financial records, ensure proper accrual accounting, and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• P&L Management:
• Oversee the preparation and reporting of the Profit & Loss statement, providing insights for business decisions.
• Ensure accurate and timely expense accruals and financial reporting.
• Month-End Closing:
• Complete month-end closing tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Expense Management:
• Record and manage accruals, prepayments, and related adjustments in financial systems.
• Invoice Verification and Control:
• Verify vendor and operational invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts and purchase orders.
• Manage vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• IFRS Compliance (Focus on IFRS 16):
• Ensure compliance with IFRS 16 for lease accounting.
• Maintain proper records and reconciliations of lease arrangements.
• Accounts Receivable Management:
• Oversee receivables from payment gateways, third-party logistics (3PL), COD drivers, and credit suppliers.
• Ensure accurate posting, reconciliation, and timely collection.
• VAT Compliance:
• Oversee VAT accounting, filing, and submission of returns in UAE and KSA.
• Assist in VAT audits and handle queries from tax authorities.
• Inventory Reconciliation and Controls:
• Conduct regular inventory reconciliations between ERP and WMS.
• Maintain accurate records for consignment inventory and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconciliation of Financial Records:
• Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts receivable, prepayments, and accruals.
• Collaboration and Reporting:
• Collaborate with various departments to streamline financial processes.
• Provide financial reports and insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications And Experience

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (BBA, B.Com, CPA, ACCA, CMA preferred).
• Experience:
• 5-6 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on receivables, inventory, accruals, and P&L management, ideally in an e-commerce or retail environment.
• Skills & Knowledge:
• Strong knowledge of IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 16.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite), financial software, and inventory management tools.
• Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Desired Skills

• Hard Skills:
• Expertise in financial software, ERP systems, and inventory management (e.g., ERP vs. WMS reconciliation).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Detailed understanding of IFRS 16 (Leases).
• Experience in high-volume transaction environments.
• Familiarity with VAT regulations in UAE and KSA.
